MOUNTAIN PROJECTS HEAD START EARNS A GOLD MEDAL

Mountain Projects Head Start has earned the highest possible rating from the Office of Head Start Federal Review Board, earning a rating of “Full Compliance” and a gold certificate.

The five day on site review conducted by the Administration for Children and Families occurs every three years with a team reviewing 18 content areas including education, health, human resources, fiscal management, nutrition services, mental health/disabilities, family services, governance, just to name a few. The 18 content areas are comprised of more than 450 federal regulations that govern the operation of the Head Start Program. Mountain Projects, Head Start achieved 100% compliance in all areas. Less than 25% of the Head Start Programs across the nation earn this rating.

Head Start was founded in 1965 as a compressive child development program. The program focuses on meeting the educational, social/emotional, and individual needs of pre-school children and assures that every child is ready for a successful public school experience.

According to Holly Crawford, Head Start Director, “this Honor could not have been possible without the dedication and hard work completed by the entire Head Start staff on a daily basis.”

“At our final meeting, one reviewer stated that during the whole week she could see and feel the passion the staff had for the children and families. I thought about that for a moment and decided that was exactly what our Head Start Program is all about.”
