Intake/Eligibility

All clients applying for services with income guideline requirements begin with an application appointment. The intake process includes a needs assessment and referrals for other services within this agency or to outside providers. An outreach specialist is available to make home visits for the elderly homebound and handicapped individuals.

WIA-Adult

The goal for this program is to increase the employment, job retention and earnings of participants, and to increase occupational skill attainment by providing training services. Assistance is available for tuition, books and fees to attend the community colleges. Supportive services include transportation cost, car repairs, childcare, housing assistance, clothing/uniforms or work related tools. Each client will be assigned to a case manager who is responsible for all services.

GED Lab

The lab is fully sanctioned by Southwestern Community College. The Southwestern Commission, our WIA funding source, have provided the computers. We enroll a class of 6-12 comprised of adult & youth program participants and Head Start parents. Classes will meet Tuesday and Thursdays from 5:00-8:00 PM. Margie Russell is the instructor.

WIA Youth
This Jackson County program is available to eligible youth ages 16-21. Target groups include drop-outs, parenting or pregnant youth, offenders or a youth who needs additional assistance to complete a GED or Adult High School diploma in order to secure and keep job. Services provided to the participants include tutoring, study skills, short-term work experience, occupational skills training and leadership development.

The Youth Program utilizes community-based resources such as the community college system to advance academic skills. Special services are also available from other job link partners. Financial support is provided when needed for emergency assistance, transportation, childcare, car repairs, housing and food.
