Sometimes life is not fair.
Sometimes human beings make poor decisions, they are not perfect, they take the wrong paths, they never have doors of opportunity open to them, they lose their dreams along the way and the latest issue is they get sick without health care.
Whatever the reason, sometimes people need help and they walk through the doors of Mountain Projects Community Action Agency.
Each story varies and in its own way can be heart wrenching. Sometimes staff fights tears as they hear person after person tell why they have come to us. The stories can be as basic as I don’t make enough money to pay my rent or as sad as I had
cancer and lost my health care. My medical bills are more than I will ever make. Whatever the story the needs are real. Mountain Projects has begun a compassion campaign, an effort to seek donations to
help meet the increasing and un-funded needs in our community. Over the past six years funding from government assistance has decreased while the needs have rapidly increased. Some of the increase demand is due to lack of affordable health care and people simply getting sick. As you look at the photographs of the faces of need we challenge you to go into a
public school, child care or Head Start classroom. Ask a child what they want to be when they grow up. They will probably tell you superman, the president, a fire fighter, or even Miss America. They all have dreams, hopes and wishes. Our job is to lend a hand as they grow up and face
the hard cold reality that they may not be able to afford college, they may get sick, they may hang out with the wrong crowd and they grow old without enough money to buy medicine and eat. **No hungry, tired, or cold person who has ever come through our doors would not change places with us in an instant. Let’s never forget how important it is to remember one of the first lesson we learned
in life….to share. Please consider sending a tax deducible donation today. Our financial records are public knowledge and open for review. We will always account for every dollar in resources we receive We are a tax deductible non-profit organization. |
