Effective November 1st, 2009, Mountain Projects, Inc. received ARRA funding for Congregate Nutrition. The total amount of funding is $16,499 which includes a 10% county match of $1,650. This ARRA funding will be divided between the three congregate sites in Haywood County including the Canton Senior Center, Maggie Valley Nutrition Site, and the Waynesville Nutrition Site. The funding will be used at each site for operational costs to provide additional meals for the senior participants.
The Congregate Nutrition Program is available free of charge to anyone age 60 or over. A daily contribution for the meal can be donated each day for the meal. All contributions are voluntary.
ARRA funding for Congregate Nutrition is obligated from November 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010 with a strong encouragement for the funding to be spent by June 30, 2010.
